The Mighty Graduation for Economic Empowerment

July 26th 2019, was a wonderful day here at Girl Up Initiative Uganda. It was filled with loads of joy and happiness, not forgetting the red carpet moments and the amazingly unique dance strokes that were pulled off by everyone. As a way of marking young women’s completion from our business training and vocational training programs, we held a vibrant graduation ceremony for 20 young women. The celebration kicked off with welcoming the invited guests, including the parents to the graduates, which was later followed by a luncheon. My Volunteer Experience Capturing the Impact of the Adolescent Girls Program

My name is Jordan Sanders and I am from Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. I have been volunteering here at Girl Up Initiative Uganda (GUIU) for the past two months with the Adolescent Girls Program (AGP). I’m excited to share with you my experiences from this summer! I am a graduate student at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. Our institution’s mission is to give students the knowledge and experience to further their careers in the areas of nonprofit, governmental, volunteer, or private sector service.
