Results of our 2015 Nonprofit Donation Campaign

Girl Up Initiative Uganda would like to thank all our generous donors, supporters, and friends for your tax-deductible donations to our 2015 end-of-the-year Generosity campaign! Launched on December 1st, 2015 in celebration of Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back, our team was excited to try a new online platform to collect charity donations. It was the first time we used a crowd funding site since our early days in 2013 when we first fundraised for Girl Up Initiative Uganda on Indiegogo, so we were a bit uncertain of the reception from our supporters and donors. Announcing our Partnership with Plan International Uganda

Girl Up Initiative Uganda (GUIU) is proud to announce that we have become official partners with Plan International Uganda as the district-level CSO implementing partner for its Ni-Yetu (meaning ‘it is ours’ in Swahili) Youth Program. GUIU will support Plan International Uganda and the national-level CSOs (UYONET, CEDOVIP, and Straight Talk Foundation) to implement all activities of Ni-Yetu in Kampala district. The three-year program funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), integrates the promotion of youth sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and prevention of gender based violence (GBV) among young people in five districts of Uganda. As a California native from Santa Barbara, I know intimately how easy it is to stay in a bubble of comfort and ease. I was privileged to grow up with many opportunities and the support I needed to develop. Being a girl never made me different than a boy when it came to my life decisions. I was brought up to be a leader in my community despite my gender.
